Eligibility

Eligibility

Three things decide it: your age, where you live, and whether you have an idea that solves a real problem.

The basic requirements

These are the only things that decide whether you can apply.

  • Your age

You must be between 18 and 35 years old when you apply.

  • Where you live

You must live in one of the seven Cohort 2 states.

  • Your idea

You must have an idea that solves a real problem, and have started turning it into something people can use.

  • Your sector

Any sector is welcome. There is no list of allowed fields.

Where Cohort 2 runs

You must live in one of these seven states.

  • Abia
  • Akwa Ibom
  • Cross River
  • Katsina
  • Niger
  • Plateau
  • Taraba

Six of these are new to Cohort 2. Akwa Ibom took part in Cohort 1 and continues, so the programme has run in thirteen states in all.

What makes a strong application

None of this decides whether you can apply. It is what reviewers look for once you have.

  • You understand the problem.
  • You have a clear idea for solving it.
  • You can explain why the problem matters.
  • You have experience of the problem, or of the community it affects.
  • You have started testing your idea.
  • You are willing to learn and improve it.

What do I need to apply?

You do not need to have everything figured out. Have these ready before you start.

  • Your name and phone number
  • A WhatsApp number, if you have one
  • The state and Local Government Area where you live
  • Some basic information about yourself
  • Information about your idea
  • A photo or video of your solution, taken on your phone

Only if you already have a registered business

You can apply without one. Most applicants do.

  • Your business registration documents
  • Details of anyone you employ
  • Financial statements for the business

Your progress is saved as you go, so you can stop and come back later.
